This is a Catering Assistant post at Ysgol Gymraeg Gwynllyw, working within the Schools Catering Team of Torfaen County Borough Council. The work covers all areas of the kitchen, from preparing and serving school meals to cleaning the kitchen and dining hall, running the cashless tills and keeping accurate records. It is a 12.5-hour post in a busy kitchen, where Welsh is desirable but not required. An Enhanced DBS check is part of screening, and the role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
What the job involves
- Assist in all areas of the kitchen to meet required standards
- Prepare food
- Serve meals
- Clean the kitchen and dining hall
- Operate the cashless catering tills
- Observe hygiene and health and safety procedures
- Use all kitchen equipment safely and correctly
- Complete any training the Catering Manager considers necessary, at locations they consider suitable
- Keep full and accurate records in the books and forms set by the Catering Department
