Weston College is recruiting a part-time Personal Development Tutor for its new Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence College, working term-time only. The role centres on building students' confidence, communication and employability through group tutorials, enrichment activities and support towards university, apprenticeships or skilled work. The post brings the College's STEPS framework into daily tutoring, with a shift pattern running Tuesday to Friday. Prior experience of working with young people or adults in an education or support setting is needed.
What the job involves
- Deliver group tutorial sessions on topics such as digital wellbeing
- Deliver the College's STEPS framework: skills, topical points, engagement, progression and self-management
- Build students' confidence, communication and employability skills
- Explore real-world issues that matter to young people
- Plan and support events, workshops and enrichment activities
- Work with careers and employability coordinators to help learners move on to university, apprenticeships or skilled work
- Help students secure work placements
- Encourage learners to take ownership of their goals and future
- Work with colleagues to plan new ways of developing learners' life skills and knowledge
- Work closely with curriculum teams and support staff so every learner feels motivated, supported and ready for their next steps
