Nursery Cleaner

A cleaning post at Gayton Primary School, covering its new school-based nursery. The work centres on cleaning and disinfecting classrooms, toilets, the nappy-changing area and kitchen, with waste disposal, spillage response and restocking supplies. Because the setting serves the youngest pupils, hygiene standards and floor-level care are central, and the post requires an enhanced DBS check with children's barred list check. Start is as soon as possible, and visa sponsorship is not available.

What the job involves

• Clean nursery classrooms, toilets, nappy-changing area, kitchen/snack area, cloakroom, entrance and corridors to an agreed schedule
• Sweep, mop and vacuum floors, and clean and disinfect tables, chairs, sinks, toilets, door handles, light switches and other touch points
• Empty bins, replace liners and dispose of waste, including nappy and hygiene waste
• Replenish soap, paper towels, toilet rolls and other consumables, and report low stock
• Clean glass, windowsills, low-level surfaces and children's furniture, with extra care at floor level
• Deal promptly with spillages and bodily fluids under school hygiene and infection-control procedures
• Use cleaning equipment and COSHH chemicals safely, wear provided PPE, and store chemicals out of children's reach
• Report damage, hazards, maintenance issues and safeguarding concerns promptly
• Help with periodic deep cleans and other tasks requested by the School Business Manager or Caretaker
• Follow school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and confidentiality
• Secure doors and gates as instructed and leave the building safe
• Attend relevant training and work as part of the wider school team
