Deputy Shop Manager at Our Clothes Store, a charity retail shop run by Dorothy House Hospice Care, working 15 hours over two days a week with alternate weekends. The post supports the Shop Manager in running the shop and backstage areas, supporting and training volunteers, sorting and pricing donated stock, and deputising when needed. The work is physically demanding, with regular lifting and long periods standing, though manual handling training is provided. No retail or charity experience is required.
What the job involves
- Support the Shop Manager in the day-to-day running of the shop
- Create a welcoming environment for customers and donors
- Act as customer champion, using initiative to improve the retail experience
- Maintain high standards across the shop floor and backstage areas
- Support, motivate and engage the volunteer team
- Train volunteers in preparing goods, customer service, cleanliness and presentation
- Sort, price and present donated stock
- Deputise for the Shop Manager when required, keeping the shop safe to operate
- Support the recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers

- Good standard of maths and English

Nice to have
- Experience working in a retail or charity shop
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
