This progression post sits in the Community Outpatients Team of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, supporting patients and clinicians across several outpatient clinics. The work centres on fundamental care, such as personal care, nutrition and hydration, pressure area care and routine specimen collection, carried out under a registered practitioner's direction. Because the job means driving between six community sites for morning and afternoon clinics, the holder needs their own vehicle and business insurance. Visa sponsorship is not available, so applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
What the job involves
- Provide fundamental care under the direction of a registered practitioner, following patient care plans and consent
- Support patients, clinicians and colleagues during outpatient consultations, promoting person-centred care
- Deliver personal care, including catheter care where required, and nutrition and hydration support
- Carry out pressure area care and moving and handling
- Collect routine bodily fluid specimens
- Complete food and fluid charts, outcome sheets and other documentation
- Carry out care in line with risk assessments and care plans
- Keep clinical rooms stocked with clinical forms and patient information sheets
- Help prepare medical notes to run clinics
- Escort patients to other departments, except theatre
- Start emergency procedures and complete accident and incident forms
- Travel between community sites to cover morning and afternoon clinics
What’s required
Qualifications
- GCSE maths and English at grade D or above, or Level 1 functional skills in literacy and numeracy
- QCF or NVQ Level 2 in a health-related subject
Experience
- Some experience in a care or health role

- Own transport and access to a vehicle
