What the job involves
- Supervise pupils during the lunch period and keep them safe
- Register and account for every child attending lunchtime
- Promote a calm, safe and inclusive environment and support behaviour under school policy
- Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures and report concerns promptly
- Assist with serving lunch in line with school procedures
- Follow food allergy, intolerance and dietary information and maintain food hygiene
- Engage children in play, talk and suitable activities and encourage independence and healthy choices
- Clear tables, tidy the dinner hall, playground and classroom, and store equipment
- Account for all children at the end of lunch and move them safely to classrooms or designated areas
- Report accidents, hazards and welfare concerns and follow emergency procedures
- Pass relevant information on to school staff
- Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role
