Consultant Psychiatrist post on the Adult Acute Ward at Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal, an inpatient mental health service for young people and adults. The role centres on clinical responsibility for adult inpatients, leading multidisciplinary ward rounds and risk reviews, and acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act. It is a full-time, 37.5-hour post that also contributes to admission assessments for young people. Applicants need MRCPsych, a CCT, GMC Specialist Register entry, Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.
What the job involves
- Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and developing a therapeutic milieu
- Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983
- Supervise the referral and admission process, including contributing to pre-admission assessments of young people with team members
- Offer a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team on the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults
