Maintenance Operative post at Cygnet Nield House, a 29-bed women's mental health hospital run by Cygnet Health Care. The role keeps the hospital safe and working through day-to-day maintenance and repairs, from joinery and plumbing to painting, general building work and weekly fire checks. The post is full time, Monday to Friday, with travel to other sites and occasional on-call emergency repairs outside normal hours. Applicants need a full valid driving licence and must pass an enhanced DBS check.
What the job involves
- Carry out day-to-day maintenance to keep the hospital safe, functional and efficient
- Provide a comprehensive maintenance and repair service
- Carry out basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work
- Maintain equipment, services and vehicles
- Comply with safe working practices and report faulty equipment and potential hazards
- Travel to other sites and be on call for emergency repairs outside normal working hours
- Check fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices and fire emergency lights
