Urgent Care - Overnight GP in London

Bank GP post for overnight shifts at the Whipps X Urgent Care Centre, advertised by WF GP Federation. The work is face-to-face assessment, diagnosis and treatment of walk-in patients and those referred by NHS 111, with clinical records kept for every contact. Shifts run from midnight to 8am, so the post suits GPs who can work nights, and practice-based EA and SDA sessions are advertised separately. What the job involves

• Provide face-to-face clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients at the urgent care centre, acting autonomously
• Triage and prioritise patients, taking history including past medical and drug history
• Evaluate clinical information and decide on treatment, referral or discharge
• Refer patients to appropriate care settings
• Prescribe, supply or administer medication and treatments under agreed protocols
• Keep accurate, contemporaneous computerised records of every contact, including adverse events and safeguarding concerns
• Work bank shifts from midnight to 8am
• Follow Whipps X and WF Fednet operational policies and procedures
• Work alongside nursing and administration teams at Whipps X
• Communicate with patients and carers, acute trusts, GPs, neighbourhood and community teams, social care and palliative care teams
• Help develop an integrated approach to patient care across the urgent care centre
• Provide clinical support to the urgent care centre

What’s required

Qualifications

• MRCGP or equivalent
• Recent evidence of continued academic and professional development

Registration & licences

• Valid GMC registration
• Licence to practise
• Currently registered on a performers list

Skills & knowledge

• Experience of Microsoft Office software
• Works well within a multidisciplinary team
• Works on own initiative
