A 12-month class teacher post at Harris Academy Tottenham, covering a colleague's maternity leave from January. The work centres on planning and teaching the primary curriculum to a KS2 class, tracking pupils' progress and setting work. The school is part of the Harris Federation and offers development through the Harris Institute of Teaching and Leadership, with support from the senior leadership team. QTS or equivalent is required, and visa sponsorship is not available.
What the job involves
- Plan and prepare courses and lessons
- Teach pupils according to their educational needs
- Have regard to the school curriculum and promote each pupil's abilities and aptitudes
- Set and mark work for pupils in school and elsewhere
- Assess, record and report on pupils' development, progress and attainment

- Undergraduate degree
Experience
- Successful experience of teaching the primary curriculum
Skills & knowledge
- Current theory and best practice in teaching and learning, especially achieving high progress for primary-age children
- Good subject knowledge of the core National Curriculum
- Understanding of child development and progression and how it shapes planning
- Strategies for managing behaviour in line with school policy
- Understanding of equal opportunities issues and how to address them in schools
- Excellent written and oral communication, and good interpersonal skills for working in a team
