Consultant General Surgeon (Lincolnshire)

A consultant general surgeon post, fellowship-trained, with the One Health Group General Surgery team serving the Lincolnshire region. The work is assessing and operating on NHS patients referred through the e-Referral System, with clinics at outreach sites and operations at independent sector hospitals. Travel between locations is required, and practising privileges must be obtained for each hospital used. Candidates need a current substantive NHS post or a long-term locum, and GMC registration without restrictions.

What the job involves

• Assess NHS patients referred through the NHS e-Referral System
• Operate on NHS patients referred to One Health
• Hold appointments across a number of outreach clinic sites
• Operate in a range of independent sector hospitals
• Travel between locations
• Support and grow the One Health Group General Surgery team
• Complete onboarding and obtain practising privileges at each hospital used

Qualifications

• Fellowship training in general surgery
• Relevant sub-specialist qualifications (FRCS {orth} as printed)

Registration & licences

• GMC registration with no hearings or restrictions
• Entry on the specialist register

Experience

• Current substantive NHS post or long-term locum of more than 12 months, or substantive NHS consultant for at least 3 years before leaving the NHS
• Experience in a similar role in a private or NHS setting

Skills & knowledge

• Strong written and verbal communication in English
• Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
• Professional outlook and empathetic telephone manner
• Understanding of the importance of patient confidentiality
