Lewisham College, part of NCG, is recruiting a welfare and engagement adviser to work within student services under the Head of Student Services and Resource. Its core is pastoral and welfare support that helps students overcome barriers to achievement, including bursary and travel applications, and identifying those at risk as part of safeguarding. It is a 35-hour post working with student services and curriculum teams on enrichment and personal development. Agency applications are not accepted, and an enhanced DBS check applies.
What the job involves
- Provide pastoral and welfare support to students needing extra help, including bursary and travel support
- Act as part of the safeguarding team by identifying students at risk and those needing support
- Support students in preparing for progression within and from the college
- Contribute to planning and delivering enrichment, personal development activities and workshops
- Encourage student participation in wider college life, including enrichment, Learner Voice and social action
