This pharmacist post sits in the Emergency and Specialist Medicine team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, working across the LRI and LGH sites within a multidisciplinary team. The work centres on daily clinical pharmacy on specified wards, prescribing and reviewing medication, and helping to train colleagues while pursuing audit and research. The role includes rota cover for evenings, on-call, bank holidays and weekends, across areas such as acute medicine, stroke and rheumatology. Candidates need at least two years' post-registration pharmacy practice with relevant clinical experience.
What the job involves
- Deliver optimum pharmaceutical care to patients on specified wards and clinics for the clinical directorate, at a level of clinical input suited to the grade
- Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in line with evidence-based practice, national and local protocols and within scope of practice
- Pursue audit, research and development within the CMG and department, and publicise results through presentations and publications
- Assist with the training and development of staff
- Contribute to evening, on-call, bank holiday and weekend rotas
- Support the improvement of pharmacy services
- Help develop and lead local initiatives, such as flow and discharge processes, with specialties
What’s required
Registration & licences
- GPhC registration as a pharmacist
Experience
- Approaching two years' minimum post-registration experience in pharmacy practice
- Relevant clinical experience
Skills & knowledge
- Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with evidence of these
- Sound current clinical knowledge
