This term-time support post sits within Spring Brook Lower School, part of Spring Brook Academy, for four days a week. The work centres on pupils with challenging behaviour and social, emotional and mental health needs, giving pastoral, emotional and educational support to pupils in crisis or affected by trauma. It also includes bespoke reading and phonics work with small groups and supervising pupils at lunch and break. Fit depends on an enhanced DBS check and the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not offered.
What’s required
Experience
- Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs
- Helping pupils overcome barriers to personal, social or learning development
- Intervening with pupils in crisis or affected by trauma, using emotional or educational support
- Delivering bespoke reading and phonics interventions to individuals or small groups
- Working with staff to deliver bespoke strategies and interventions
- Supervising pupils over lunch and break times as directed
Skills & knowledge
- Nurturing, empathetic and holistic approach to behaviour management
- Physical and emotional resilience to support pupils with SEMH needs, seeing behaviour as communication of unmet need
- Building relationships with pupils, families and key partners
- Working as part of a team and using own initiative when needed
