This Infection Prevention Staff Nurse post sits in the infection prevention and control function at Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital, reporting into the Director of Clinical Services. The postholder runs day-to-day infection prevention and control across the hospital, covering staff training, infection data reporting and investigation of site infections. The post is part-time, with core co-ordinator work at 20 hours a week, and the successful candidate is funded to complete a Level 6 IPC course at De Montfort University. NMC registration is required.
What the job involves
- Day-to-day management of infection prevention and control for the hospital, working with the DIPC
- Practical infection prevention training for clinical and non-clinical staff
- Uploading infection prevention data to the UKHSA database
- Investigating infections at the site with department leads and identifying areas to improve care
- Chairing the monthly hospital HCAI group
- Supporting the DIPC to prepare for quarterly IP&C Committee meetings
- Working as part of a close-knit team headed by the Director of Clinical Services
- Working alongside consultant-led clinical teams and gaining experience of new practices and equipment
- Liaising with practitioners from other departments to maintain continuity of patient care
- Managing a patient workload in a constantly changing environment
