This permanent role sits in the Early Years team at the preschool of East Huntspill Primary School, caring for and teaching young children. The work centres on planning engaging activities, tracking each child's progress through records and reports, and carrying out individual childcare plans with the Preschool Manager. Hours are 13 a week over Monday and Tuesday in term time plus two INSET days, a two-day part-time pattern. Visa sponsorship is not available, and a Level 3 early years qualification is expected.
What the job involves
- Implement individual childcare plans and meet each child's learning and developmental needs through planned activities and care
- Monitor and evaluate children's progress, keeping accurate records and reports
- Contribute to planning activities and take part in community events to promote the preschool
- Work with the EYFS team, volunteers and external agencies to support families
- Ensure the setting complies with Ofsted regulations and health and safety policies
- Maintain resources and equipment so the facilities run smoothly and safely
- Keep a welcoming atmosphere for children and their families
Qualifications
- Full and relevant Early Years qualification at Level 3 or higher
Experience
- Proven experience working in childcare or education, such as a nursery or preschool
- Experience planning activities and working with parents
Skills & knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage, child development and child protection procedures
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Basic IT proficiency
- Recording detailed observations of children's progress
