Work centres on helping service users build daily living skills and independence, supporting risk management and assisting qualified staff. Southsea wards serve working-age adults on a section, while the older persons' services support people over 65. Sponsorship is not available for these roles.
What the job involves
- Support service users to build independence and daily living skills, including personal hygiene, diet and fluids, and social or leisure activities, as set out in their care plan
- Work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team alongside nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and psychiatrists
- Support risk management and develop therapeutic relationships with service users
- Help individuals lead meaningful and fulfilling lives
- Work closely with patients, families and carers to give a positive, supportive experience
- Assist and support qualified staff, carrying out assigned tasks as directed without supervision
- Carry out housekeeping duties where required
- Act as a role model, guiding and supporting new or less experienced colleagues
- Use communication skills to engage, persuade or negotiate with clients who have complex or challenging needs
Qualifications
- Level 2 qualification in health and social care, or willingness to learn
