A part-time Health Care Assistant post in the nursing team at Amersham Health Centre, a three-GP partner surgery. The work centres on phlebotomy, observations, ECGs, NHS Health Checks and simple wound care, carried out under the supervision of the nursing team. The role is set over around 21 hours across Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and experience in primary or community care is preferred. A care certificate and phlebotomy skills are essential.
What the job involves
- Perform phlebotomy
- Record blood pressure, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation
- Undertake ECGs
- Measure height, weight, BMI and waist circumference
- Carry out NHS Health Checks
- Perform urinalysis
- Assist with chronic disease monitoring, such as foot checks
- Provide basic dressings and wound care using aseptic technique
- Carry out suture clip and removal
- Perform spirometry
- Act as chaperone
- Process laboratory samples requested by doctors and nurses
