Bank staff nurse post in the outpatient department at Spire Portsmouth Hospital, filled through the staffing bank on a flexible basis. The work centres on nurse-led dressing and phlebotomy clinics, pre-operative investigations, chaperoning and assisting consultants with examinations and minor procedures, and keeping outpatient records. Shifts are taken up to cover busy periods, sickness and annual leave, and the bank pays weekly. Current NMC registration with no practice restriction is essential.
What the job involves
- Run nurse-led dressing and phlebotomy clinics and assist with pre-operative investigations
- Carry out duties delegated by the OPD Manager or team leader to support patient care and the smooth running of the department
- Chaperone and assist consultants during patient examinations and minor surgical procedures
- Arrange investigations requested by consultants
- Complete outpatient documentation to a high standard
- Deliver individualised nursing care and procedures to the highest standard, following hospital policies
- Provide patients with clear, accessible written information about their procedures and treatments

- Experience of working in teams with minimum supervision
Skills & knowledge
- Competence across a range of nursing skills
