Locum dental nurse placed by Military Medical Personnel on a six-week assignment at Harrogate Dental Centre, serving Ministry of Defence service personnel. The work centres on chairside support, instrument preparation and sterilisation, radiograph processing, patient appointments and dental records, with strict infection control. At 16 hours a week, this is a part‑time locum role. Fit depends on full GDC registration and existing right to work, as MMP cannot sponsor visas.
What the job involves
- Assist with clinical duties, including preparing and sterilising instruments, operating the dental computing system and processing radiographs
- Manage patient appointments and dental records, including documenting dental prosthetic appliances
- Adhere to infection control procedures and Health and Safety policies
- Assist in the central sterilisation area as required
- Ensure compliance with GDC standards and current legislation
Qualifications
- Completion of relevant CPD courses, such as medical emergencies, safeguarding and radiography
- Current emergency and resuscitation certification
- Certification in Safeguarding Children and Adults Level 3
Registration & licences
- Full registration with the General Dental Council
- Valid indemnity insurance with a recognised dental defence organisation
Experience
- Clinical currency: a minimum of two clinical sessions a week over the last 15 months
Checks & eligibility
- PVG membership (Disclosure Scotland) or Access NI certificate
- Right to work in the UK with no visa restrictions on hours
Other
- Health clearance for exposure prone procedures (tuberculosis, hepatitis, HIV)
