A substantive senior support post in the inpatient rehabilitation team at the Royal Devon and Exeter site at Wonford, working alongside physiotherapy and occupational therapy. The work centres on helping patients recovering on acute medical and respiratory wards to regain mobility and prepare for discharge home, including falls prevention and family and carer liaison. The role leans towards occupational therapy and needs weekend and bank holiday rota cover alongside a weekday core. Part-time hours are also considered.
What the job involves
- Deliver therapeutic interventions and treatments to patients on acute medical and respiratory wards
- Identify and support the physical limitations and functional problems of patients with disability
- Support the therapy team with early routine assessments and rehabilitation
- Liaise with patients and family or carers on discharge planning and falls prevention
- Build strong links with multidisciplinary teams in acute and community settings
- Support occupational therapy and physiotherapy staff daily, with a strong OT focus
- Work across all areas of the physiotherapy service as required
- Cover shifts across seven days, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota
