Temporary Consultant Psychiatrist post at Pinhoe View, the Elysium Healthcare site with 36 acute inpatient beds across a male and a female ward. The core of the work is clinical decision-making, care planning and acting as Responsible Clinician for Clyst Ward under the Mental Health Act. You would sit within a team with another full-time consultant and two associate specialists, and help steer service development alongside senior managers. Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status in England are required.
What the job involves
- Lead clinical decision-making and manage complex cases
- Act as Responsible Clinician for Clyst Ward
- Formulate care plans and guide evidence-based treatment
- Implement the Mental Health Act and collaborate with external agencies
- Take part in MDT meetings and care reviews
- Help steer service development with the ward manager and senior management, in line with hospital and Elysium strategy
- Contribute to clinical governance, audits and service improvement
- Keep accurate clinical records and meet NHSE contractual obligations
- Take part in the second tier on-call rota providing telephone advice
- Cover colleagues during absences
Qualifications
- MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- Without CCT/CESR, AC status and extensive senior acute inpatient experience may be considered
Registration & licences
- Section 12(2) approval to work in England
- Approved Clinician (AC) status
Experience
- Extensive experience in acute inpatient settings
- Experience of acute inpatient or community settings, ideally inpatient
- Experience of risk assessment and risk management
Skills & knowledge
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for patients' clinical care
