What the job involves
- Support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning under the class teacher's direction
- Support pupils with SEND to access the curriculum, following individual support and provision plans
- Deliver structured interventions and programmes planned by the teacher
- Help pupils understand instructions through explanation, modelling, scaffolding and resources
- Observe pupils' responses to learning, give feedback to the class teacher and contribute to assessment records
- Build positive relationships and uphold behaviour expectations in line with the school's policy
- Supervise pupils at breaktimes, lunchtimes and transitions
- Support pupils' emotional, pastoral and wellbeing needs and help resolve difficulties
- Support class prayer, liturgy and whole-school worship, and promote the Catholic ethos
- Work with teachers, the SENCo, parents, carers and visiting professionals
- Follow safeguarding policies and complete required safeguarding training
- Support educational visits and enrichment activities
