Shebson Lodge, a sheltered housing scheme in Westcliff-on-Sea run by Jewish Care, needs a permanent Night Warden to cover overnight. The post centres on checking on older tenants, answering calls for help and acting as first contact in emergencies such as fire alarms and medical incidents, while keeping the building secure. Shifts run 8pm to 8.30am on a three-week rota of six nights, with overtime available. A Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification is needed, or a commitment to work towards one.
What the job involves
- Check on tenants' wellbeing overnight and respond to calls for assistance
- Act as first point of contact in emergencies, including fire alarms and medical incidents
- Ensure the security and safety of the building, including locking communal areas and monitoring access
- Record and report incidents, building issues and tenant concerns
- Support tenants with minor issues while promoting their independence
- Provide a calm, reassuring presence throughout the night
