Solihull College & University Centre is recruiting a tutor for its Adult Skills provision. The post involves running engaging sessions for adult learners preparing for engineering and manufacturing careers, covering employability skills, workplace behaviours and job-search techniques such as CV writing and interview preparation. Cover is also required at a second campus, so flexible travel between sites is essential. Industry experience is an advantage, and the role centres on assessing learners and helping them set realistic employment goals.
What the job involves
- Deliver interactive, motivating sessions to adult learners preparing for engineering and manufacturing careers
- Teach workplace communication, teamwork, problem-solving, health and safety awareness and digital skills
- Teach engineering industries and career pathways, professional behaviours and employer expectations within engineering
- Support learners with job-search techniques, CV writing and interview preparation
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Provide practical industry-focused guidance and encouragement in a positive learning environment
- Assess learner progress and give constructive feedback
- Help individuals set realistic employment goals
- Promote professional standards, a strong health and safety culture and the attitudes valued by engineering employers
- Provide cover at the Blossomfield campus as required
