Permanent Employment Specialist post in the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Service run by Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, supporting people with serious and enduring mental health difficulties. The role centres on helping clients find or keep paid work through individually tailored plans, and on building relationships with local employers to open up jobs not advertised openly. Post-holders carry a caseload, travel across the region and are trained in the IPS approach. Visa sponsorship is not available.
What the job involves
- Manage a caseload of people with mental health difficulties to find, maintain or retain paid employment
- Follow the IPS model, collate evidence and take part in Fidelity Reviews
- Plan individually tailored, person-centred programmes to meet clients' employment goals
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team and liaise with stakeholders including DWP and Citizens Advice
- Carry out employer engagement, research the labour market and negotiate job opportunities with local employers
- Support service users and employers to identify reasonable adjustments and return-to-work strategies
- Act independently, using own judgement, knowledge and initiative
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent level of knowledge
- Knowledge or experience of recruitment or employment
- Knowledge and experience of recovery and social inclusion principles
Experience
- Experience of working in supported employment services
- Experience of working with people with mental health problems or a similar service user group
- Understanding of employment challenges for people with mental health experiences
Checks & eligibility
- Full driving licence with access to own vehicle for business purposes

- Flexibility to travel within the region
