A one-year operating department practitioner post in the perioperative and theatre services at Eastbourne District General Hospital, East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The work is hands-on patient care across peri-operative, day surgery, theatre and recovery settings, plus anaesthetic support in satellite areas. Surgical lists cover general, orthopaedic, ENT, gynaecology, urology, breast and trauma cases, with rotation to nights, weekends and out-of-hours work. Anaesthetics experience or qualifications are required, and applicants must be registered nurses or ODPs.
What the job involves
- Provide care to patients across peri-operative, day surgery, theatre and PACU settings
- Support the Department Deputy Leads and Matrons in running an efficient, safe service
- Care for patients compassionately, with dignity and respect
- Work in satellite areas performing surgery and anaesthetics
- Cover general, orthopaedic, ENT, gynae, urology, breast and trauma/CEPOD lists
- Rotate to nights, weekends and out-of-hours work
Qualifications
- Registered nurse or registered operating department practitioner
Experience
- Experience or qualifications in anaesthetics
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting
