A kitchen post at Wellesley Hospital, an Elysium Healthcare site for men and women with mental health needs, within the kitchen team. The work covers meal preparation and cooking, serving food and drink, stock rotation and storage, and keeping kitchen areas clean to food safety standards. The role is 37.5 hours a week, with regular contact with service users, staff and visitors, and liaison with dietitians on planned meals. Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP is required, and a DBS check applies.
What the job involves
- Report to the Head Chef and support the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Assist catering staff with preparing and cooking meals in line with company policies
- Serve food and beverages to service users, staff and visitors
- Maintain storage procedures and stock rotation
- Ensure all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly
- Ensure the kitchen and associated areas meet hygiene standards and company policies
- Liaise with the wider team, including dietitians, on dietary and planned meals
Experience
- Experience of working in a similar role
Skills & knowledge
- Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
