This is a mobile catering post with Tayside Contracts, the shared service run for Angus Council, Dundee City Council and Perth & Kinross Council. The work is preparing, lightly cooking and serving food in kitchens across the Tayside cluster, usually under a higher-graded kitchen operative. The base is fixed, but the postholder may be sent to other sites within a reasonable area as their manager directs. Previous applicants should not apply, and catering experience and a food hygiene certificate are desirable rather than essential.
What the job involves
- Prepare, cook simply and serve food
- Work under the general direction of a higher-graded kitchen operative
- Work at different locations within the cluster as directed by the manager
- Report to the location notified by the manager
What’s required
Skills & knowledge
- Basic knowledge of catering methods
- Awareness of customer care
- Flexible and adaptable approach
- Able to work as part of a team or alone
Nice to have
- Previous experience of working in catering
- Elementary food hygiene certificate
- Working knowledge of HACCP
