Temporary retail shop assistant across two Demelza charity shops, Earl Street and Royal Star Arcade, reporting to the shop manager. The work centres on receiving, sorting and preparing donated goods for sale, promoting Gift Aid and keeping displays and the shop floor well presented for customers and donors. Thirty hours a week over a seven-day trading pattern, including some bank holidays, with moderate moving and handling. Applicants must be 18 or over, and any offer depends on a DBS check.
What the job involves
- Receive, sort and prepare donated items for sale
- Deliver excellent service to customers and donors
- Promote Gift Aid
- Maximise income through stock presentation and customer service
- Support the day-to-day operation of both shops
- Help create a welcoming, safe and well-presented shop environment alongside staff and volunteers
- Support visual merchandising and shop displays to attract customers and drive sales
- Work flexibly across the seven-day trading week, including some bank holidays
