This newly developed Band 4 role sits within the peri-operative dietetic service at Central Middlesex Hospital, part of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. The post supports nutritional optimisation for patients before surgery, carrying out delegated screening, monitoring and follow-up under a registered dietitian's supervision. It covers outpatient and inpatient work in an expanding service, liaising with the St Mark's Hospital dietetic team. Applicants need a nutrition or related qualification and evidence of CPD.
What the job involves
- Support the peri-operative nutrition service for patients undergoing surgery within the Pre-Operative Assessment pathway
- Carry out delegated nutritional screening, monitoring and follow-up under a registered dietitian's supervision
- Implement and monitor nutritional care plans and give dietary advice within agreed protocols
- Identify and manage patients at nutritional risk to optimise outcomes before surgery
- Contribute to the assessment of patients within agreed frameworks
- Support both outpatient and inpatient activity within the expanding service
- Maintain an agreed caseload and document all patient care in the electronic patient record
- Work with the peri-operative dietitian, the wider multidisciplinary team and St Mark's dietitians to ensure appropriate nutritional support
- Escalate clinical concerns appropriately
- Contribute to audit, service improvement and service development
- Take part in training, competency development and continuing professional development
What’s required
Qualifications
- GCSE or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in English and Maths
- Nutrition or related subject qualification
