Consultant Psychiatrist post on Jubilee Ward at Priory Hospital Dewsbury, a 16-bed male unit split between a 10-bed specialist dementia service and 6 beds for functional disorders. The work centres on clinical responsibility for patients, leading multidisciplinary ward rounds and risk reviews, and acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act. Most patients are detained, and the post suits an older adult psychiatrist or a general adult psychiatrist with substantial older adult experience. Fit depends on holding a CCT in older adult psychiatry, or the general adult equivalent with extensive older adult experience.
What the job involves
- Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and developing a therapeutic milieu
- Acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983
- Supervising the referral and admission process, including contributing to pre-admission assessments with other team members
- Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team on the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults
Qualifications
- CCT (or equivalent) in Older Adult Psychiatry, or CCT (or equivalent) in General Adult Psychiatry
- Extensive older adult experience if the CCT is in General Adult Psychiatry
