Dental Nurse

Locum dental nurse post on a seven-week assignment at Lympstone Dental Centre, supplied for the Ministry of Defence by the agency Military Medical Personnel. The work covers chairside support, preparing and sterilising instruments, processing radiographs and keeping patient and prosthetic records. It is set within a service for military personnel and runs to 37.5 hours a week. Applicants need full GDC registration and a PVG or Access NI certificate, and visas cannot be sponsored.

What the job involves

• Prepare and sterilise dental instruments and assist with clinical duties
• Operate the dental computing system and process radiographs
• Manage patient appointments and dental records
• Document dental prosthetic appliances correctly
• Follow infection control and health and safety policies
• Assist in the central sterilisation area as required
• Ensure compliance with GDC standards and current legislation

Qualifications

• Completed CPD in areas such as medical emergencies, safeguarding and radiography
• Current emergency and resuscitation certification
• Safeguarding Children and Adults Level 3 certification

Registration & licences

• Full registration with the General Dental Council
• Valid indemnity insurance with a recognised dental defence organisation

Experience

• Minimum of two clinical sessions a week over the last 15 months

Checks & eligibility

• PVG membership (Disclosure Scotland) or Access Northern Ireland certificate
• Health clearance for exposure prone procedures (tuberculosis, hepatitis, HIV)
• Existing right to work in the UK, as visas cannot be sponsored
