Bank Kitchen Assistant post at Acorn Lodge Care Home, part of Avery Healthcare Group's care home network. The work centres on preparing food and drinks safely, keeping the kitchen clean, and checking and ordering supplies for a comprehensive service to residents. Shifts run 07.00 to 15.00 or 11.00 to 19.00 on a bank basis. A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and a DBS check are required.
What the job involves
- Support catering in food preparation and keep the kitchen clean for the safe production of meals and beverages
- Deliver a high-quality, comprehensive catering service to residents
- Apply the principles of safe food handling to kitchen work to the highest hygiene standards
- Contribute to team working and carry out reasonable work instructions promptly
- Advise on the supply and quality of items used and order replacement goods in good time
- Treat residents and their visitors with respect for each resident's dignity and individuality
Qualifications
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Skills & knowledge
- Knowledge of health and safety, particularly moving and handling, fire safety and COSHH assessments
- High standards of personal hygiene
- Ability to sustain a high level of physical effort and respond to a demanding workload
- Initiative and a positive, flexible approach to team working
- Caring and understanding attitude towards residents
