Course Manager English and/or Maths

Course Manager post in the English and Mathematics department at Askham Bryan College, mainly teaching GCSE English resits to further education students. The work centres on planning and teaching agreed contact hours, with some entry-level learning and filling gaps in students' knowledge. The role is part-time at 22.2 hours, and applicants need a teaching qualification and an enhanced DBS check.

What the job involves

• Plan, prepare and teach agreed contact hours to a high standard
• Teach GCSE English resits, with some entry-level (pre-GCSE) learning
• Identify and fill gaps in student knowledge
• Collaborate with the department to produce high-quality lessons in a time-efficient way
• Ensure compliance with the Study Programme and condition of funding requirements
• Implement the College quality management system
• Support the development of resources and improvements within the department
• Contribute to cross-college events and marketing activities

What’s required

Qualifications

• Degree or above in a relevant subject
• Teaching qualification (Level 5 teaching qualifications accepted)

Experience

• Teaching experience in English

Skills & knowledge

• Strong knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum
• Enthusiastic, well-structured teaching that identifies and fills gaps in knowledge

Checks & eligibility

• Enhanced DBS check
• Declaration of all convictions and cautions, spent or not

Other

• Passion for fostering student success and engagement
