This is a phlebotomist post within the clinical team at Woodcote Medical, a suburban GP practice operating from two sites. The core of the work is taking blood samples safely and efficiently, labelling and handling them correctly, and putting nervous patients at ease. Hours are 21.25 a week on weekday mornings, working in 5-minute appointment slots across both sites, and the post runs for 365 days. Prior experience in a GP practice is essential.
What the job involves
- Perform phlebotomy safely, confidently and efficiently
- Collect blood samples for a range of laboratory investigations
- Identify, label and handle patient samples in line with practice and laboratory procedures
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
- Give a calm, professional and reassuring experience, especially to anxious patients
- Keep the clinical environment clean, safe and well organised
- Work as part of the wider multidisciplinary practice team
- Work within 5-minute appointment slots
