Consultant Psychiatrist post providing senior clinical leadership on Dean Ward, a 15-bed female inpatient ward at Wotton Lawn Hospital within Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. It replaces a consultant who has moved internally. The work combines direct patient contact with supervision of colleagues, working alongside medical staff and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post carries Responsible Clinician duties under the Code of Practice, including giving evidence at Mental Health Act Managers' Meetings and Tribunals.
What the job involves
- Provide senior clinical leadership to Dean Ward
- Work with medical colleagues, the wider MDT and the patient's support network
- Provide direct patient contact
- Consult and supervise other clinicians
- Act as Responsible Clinician for inpatients under the Code of Practice
- Give written and oral evidence at Mental Health Act Managers' Meetings and Review Tribunals
Experience
- Higher specialist training or extensive psychiatry experience
Skills & knowledge
- Understanding of NHS policies and procedures relating to medical staff
- Good interpersonal skills and aptitude for leadership
