This consultant anaesthetics post is a bank role with Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, covering single shifts up to extended placements with no guaranteed hours. The work centres on coordinating care between nurses, clinicians, patients and relatives, joining ward rounds and supervising other staff where needed. Shifts can be evening, weekend or on-call, subject to availability. Applicants need an existing GMC designated body, and bank doctors must work at least 12 shifts a month to keep it.
What the job involves
- Liaise between nurses, clinicians, patients and relatives to support safe care
- Attend and take part in board rounds, ward rounds and related daily activities
- Provide workplace supervision to other staff when requested
- Maintain high professional standards, especially in documentation
- Arrive on time for booked shifts and be available from the set start time
- Attend local induction when working in new areas
- Comply with Trust policies, including its values and behaviours
- Carry out other duties suited to the post and grade, as the specialty clinical lead advises
