This bank consultant role covers the acute medical unit and emergency department at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, across specialties. Shifts are called in as needed with no guaranteed hours, from single shifts to extended posts, including evenings, weekends and on-call. The work centres on liaising with nurses, clinicians, patients and relatives, attending ward rounds, supervising staff and keeping records to a high standard. Applicants need a GMC designated body already in place and must work at least 12 shifts a month to stay connected to the trust.
What the job involves
- Liaise between nurses, clinicians, patients and relatives to support safe care
- Attend and take part in board rounds, ward rounds and related daily activities
- Supervise other staff in the workplace as and when requested
- Keep documentation to a high standard
- Arrive on time for booked shifts and be available from the arranged start time
- Attend local induction when working in new areas
- Follow Trust policies, including its values and behaviours
- Carry out other duties suited to the post and grade, as advised by the clinical lead for the specialty
