This full-time consultant psychiatrist post at Arbury Court hospital, run by Elysium Healthcare, covers adult women with complex mental health needs. The work centres on care programmes, physical and mental health management and psychiatric assessments, with tribunal evidence also required. The post runs a medium or low secure ward, depending on preference, and includes second on-call duties. Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status are needed, and applicants must be on, or about to join, the GMC specialist register.
What the job involves
- Assess women referred to the unit to decide the appropriate level of care
- Deliver care programmes and individualised care and treatment for adult women
- Manage patients' physical and mental health concerns
- Drive multidisciplinary care
- Work effectively with patients and colleagues to achieve the best outcomes
- Give oral and written evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings
- Build relationships with external stakeholders, such as NHS England case managers
- Contribute to service development and governance, including quality improvement work
- Undertake second on-call duties (currently 1 in 17 for full-time consultants)
- Keep up to date through conferences and online courses
Qualifications
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
Registration & licences
- Full GMC registration
- On, or about to join, the GMC specialist register for forensic or general adult psychiatry
- Section 12 approval
- Approved Clinician status
