This six-month fixed-term post sits in the Front of House team at The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth, a charitable private hospital in London. The core of the work is first contact for patients, clinicians and visitors, plus booking imaging examinations and handling registration and billing on the hospital's PAS and RIS systems. The role is distinct for its close link with radiologists and the Imaging team. Fit rests on prior office and customer service experience and the ability to work under pressure.
What the job involves
- Welcome patients, clinicians, staff and visitors in a professional and polite manner as the first point of contact
- Provide high quality administrative support to the Front of House team
- Arrange inpatient and outpatient examination appointments, liaising with clinicians, patients and the Imaging team
- Carry out patient registration, charging and examination scheduling on the PAS and RIS, keeping data correct and up to date
- Scan request forms and clinical documents into the RIS
- Coordinate requests for specialised examinations with the availability of radiologists and other service providers
- Maintain cash floats and raise invoices in line with hospital policy
What’s required
Qualifications
- GCSE-level education or equivalent, literate and numerate
Experience
- Proven office and customer service experience in previous employment
- Previous experience in a customer service role
Skills & knowledge
- IT literate, including Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
- Ability to process data and amend computerised records
- Good organisational skills and able to work to tight deadlines
- Able to work in a busy environment and under pressure
- Able to work within a team
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a clinical setting
