This is a permanent senior post running the aseptic unit at HCA Healthcare UK's Private Care at Guy's site within London Bridge Hospital. The role covers day-to-day management of the unit and its staff, keeping chemotherapy production on time for the oncology service. It also covers setting up newly launched medicines, environmental monitoring, and line management and training of rotational technicians. Full-time weekday hours with late and Saturday rota shifts, plus GPhC registration and accredited checking status, are required.
What the job involves
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the aseptic unit and the staff working in it
- Ensure chemotherapy is made on time and to a high standard for the Oncology Service
- Support the set-up of new medicines for manufacturing
- Carry out environmental monitoring in line with QA and QC regulations
- Line manage rotational technicians and lead their training and development
- Work closely with pharmacists, technicians and assistants
What’s required
Qualifications
- BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacy Service Skills or PTTP, or equivalent
- Accredited Checking Technician
Registration & licences
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a busy aseptic hospital unit, including managing workflow
