Registered Nurse post at Albion Court Care Home, one of the elderly care homes run by Avery Healthcare Group. The nurse acts as person in charge, standing in for the manager when needed, and oversees nursing tasks and the care team on duty. The deputising role in the manager's absence sets this apart from a standard nursing post. Current NMC registration, two years' care experience and post-basic study are required, along with a DBS check and proof of right to work.
What the job involves
- Act as person in charge, standing in for the manager as required
- Ensure high standards of care for residents
- Carry out nursing tasks including medication distribution, dressings, catheterisation, tube feeding and management of chronic conditions
- Deploy and supervise care staff so tasks are completed and residents receive required care
- Advise families and GPs of changes in condition that give cause for concern, keeping them involved in choices about ongoing care
- Carry out accurate assessment and care planning
Qualifications
- First Level qualification
- Relevant post-basic studies or qualification
Registration & licences
- Current NMC registration
Experience
- Minimum two years' experience in care
- Up-to-date knowledge of care
Skills & knowledge
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct and demonstrate care activities
- Sound knowledge of care planning and its practical application
