This Band 4 post sits in the Babies, Children's and Young People's Division at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the rostering of resident doctors and consultants. The work centres on reviewing weekly rotas for gaps and locum cost, logging consultant sickness, and handling meetings and admin for the service. Based at Barnet Hospital, the post may also cover other sites and directorates' rotas in the division. Essential criteria cover acute district hospital NHS experience and professional rota management.

What the job involves

  • Review weekly resident doctor rosters for gaps and locum spend after internal swaps, in line with the 2016 TCS for Junior Doctors in Training (England)

  • Log and manage consultant sickness absences as the central point of contact
  • Maintain email groups and a directory of resident doctor staffing across the division
  • Keep a clear audit trail of shift swaps and ensure any gaps are paid at agreed rates
  • Review rosters weekly to include specialist interest clinic provision for registrars, allocated fairly for development
  • Meet the divisional financial accounts team to check medical roster budgets, escalating errors to the Assistant General Manager
  • Work with clinical rota coordinators so roster allocations are completed on time and all areas are staffed
  • Organise meetings, steering groups, forums and networks, including minutes, action tracking and agendas
  • Produce documents, presentations, charts and reports using MS Office and Microsoft Teams
