This post supports the Medical Engineering Department at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust on a day-to-day basis. Core work covers the medical device library, electrical safety testing, routine servicing and calibration, and minor repairs to basic devices. Duties also include stock management, commissioning new equipment, disposing of redundant kit and practical tasks such as theatre instrument processing and hoist work. Fit depends on NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, maintenance experience and knowledge of health and safety law.
What the job involves
- Day-to-day support to the Medical Engineering Department and its staff
- Running the medical device library service
- Maintaining a range of basic medical devices
- Electrical safety testing
- Routine service, calibration and minor repair of devices

What’s required
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience
Experience
- Experience in an electronic related discipline
- Previous experience in a maintenance environment
Skills & knowledge
- Appreciation of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and electro-mechanical applications
- Understanding of the operation and calibration of diagnostic test equipment
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation
- Knowledge of audio visual equipment
Nice to have
- Experience of PAT testing
- ECDL or recognised IT competency qualification
