A 12-month Activity Worker post on Beach ward, a 13-bed male organic mental health ward at the Julian Hospital run by Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust. The role centres on planning and running person-centred one-to-one and group activities for older adults living with dementia across admission, treatment and discharge. It works alongside an Occupational Therapist and the clinical team lead, and can consider candidates with life skills but limited mental health experience.
What the job involves
- Plan, facilitate and oversee person-centred activities for patients
- Deliver both one-to-one and group activities
- Support activity and engagement for people admitted to the ward
- Support older adults with dementia through their mental health journey
- Work as part of the wider team and autonomously in delivering activities
- Work with existing staff to help drive ward standards upwards
What’s required
Qualifications
- NVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalent, held or in progress
- Care Certificate, or completion within 12 weeks of start date
Skills & knowledge
- Ability to interpret and apply health and social care, organisational and occupational policy
Nice to have
- Experience of working with people living with dementia and mental health
- Ability to apply existing knowledge in a mental health context
- Experience in inpatient organic mental health settings
