A fast-track returner post with the North East Probation Service, part of the Ministry of Justice, for former qualified senior probation officers who left the Civil Service within five years. The work is keeping the public safe and rehabilitating people on probation. Contracts are permanent or temporary, with temporary terms of three, six or nine months extendable to two years, and flexible or part-time working is possible. Entry depends on a discretionary reinstatement decision and Enhanced Level 2 vetting.

Qualifications
- Probation Officer qualification, or qualified Probation Officer status
- PQF Honours Degree or Graduate Diploma and Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice, or Diploma in Probation Studies, or Diploma in Social Work (Probation option), or CQSW (Probation option)
Experience
- Former qualified senior probation officer who left the Civil Service by resignation or retirement within the last five years
- Completed probationary period before leaving the Civil Service
- Previously appointed on merit through fair and open competition
Checks & eligibility
- Security vetting at Enhanced Level 2, including DBS Enhanced
- Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) Level 2 for ViSOR database access
- Occupational Health Review
