Two Teaching Assistant posts, called Learning Link Mentors, sit in the Inclusion Faculty at The Netherhall & Oakes College, part of Anglian Learning. Core work is consistent one-to-one, paired or small-group support for students with high and complex needs, within EHCPs, risk assessments and safeguarding plans. Each postholder may be assigned mainly to one student yet also covers other students, timetables and interventions as directed, on 32.5 hours across 39 weeks. Visa sponsorship is not available, so applicants need the right to work in the UK.
What the job involves
- Be primarily allocated to a particular student and provide consistent 1:1 support for learners with high and complex needs
- Provide 1:1, paired, small-group or classroom support according to identified need
- Support learning, transitions, communication, emotional regulation and reintegration
- Follow EHCPs, individual support plans, risk assessments, safeguarding plans and de-escalation strategies
- Build trusting professional relationships while keeping clear, predictable boundaries
- Develop student independence and avoid unnecessary reliance on adult support
- Work with teachers, SEND and safeguarding staff, families, external professionals and alternative provision tutors
- Record attendance, engagement, progress, incidents and safeguarding information accurately and promptly
- Work flexibly across students, timetables, interventions and Inclusion Faculty priorities as directed
