Job Description
At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars with the aim of fighting for world championships each and every year.
Whether working in our Operations, Technical, Race or Business Support functions, we are all in and aspire to build the greatest team in the history of our sport.

About the Roles:
In one of the largest groups in the Team, we have fantastic opportunities available in our Composite Design Working Group at a range of levels of seniority. You must be comfortable challenging yourself and others with respect and passion to drive our projects forward whilst striving to achieve the best possible results.
We are looking for technically excellent engineers with a proven track record of leading and delivering significant car projects. Understanding and driving forward cost-effective design solutions is a key element in this role. With responsibilityfor delivering high-quality engineering solutions for significant projects within the specific Car Group area, this role will provide strong ownership of projects throughout the product life cycle.
These roles work closely with Aerodynamicists, Structural Engineers, and other engineering departments you will produce optimised designs to achieve the highest levels of performance and reliability. It also involves close collaboration with internal and external manufacturing departments to ensure fully integrated designs.
Candidate Profile:
- Composite, mechanical, automotive or aeronautical degree (2:1 minimum grade) or similar qualification.
- Strong Composite design experience with good understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques.
- Experience of Catia V5/3DX composite and surfacing design package.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills to ensure cross departmental integration.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work under limited supervision to tight deadlines.
- Having extensive experience in F1 composite design, with a proven track record for leading and delivering significant car projects.
- A clear and holistic understanding of racing car design.
- Managerial experience; leading and developing members of the team, allocating and managing projects and workload
- Understanding and ability to perform hand calculation produce reliable and optimised designs.
- An in-depth understanding and ability to interpret FEA results.
