About The Role: We are looking for a dedicated Buyer to manage sourcing activities across assigned categories and products. This role will involve supplier selection, managing contracts, and ensuring that products are available across our depots, all while ensuring quality standards and competitive pricing.
As a Buyer, you will contribute to the success of the business by driving cost-effective solutions, improving supplier relationships, and supporting internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday

Your Key Responsibilities as a Buyer will Include:
- Sourcing Strategy & Supplier Management: Implement sourcing strategies for assigned product categories, ensuring alignment with business objectives and quality standards. Develop and manage competitive core product ranges to be marketed to new customers. Identify and select suppliers to meet both current and future buying requirements. Manage supplier contracts, negotiations, and agreements while adhering to company guidelines and authority levels.
- Performance Management & Reporting: Monitor and report on performance against targets, KPIs, and budgets on a regular basis. Achieve personal and product category targets. Update product cost forecasts and communicate pricing information to the Sales and Commercial teams.
- Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance: Drive improvements in cost, quality, and first-time availability across the procurement process. Work with Quality and Technical teams to ensure product specifications meet operational and legal requirements. Minimise product waste and track waste levels regularly.
- Collaboration & Communication: Support Sales with timely sourcing and competitive pricing for new products, including during Tender submissions. Ensure business continuity by identifying and planning for supplier contingency requirements. Resolve day-to-day supplier issues with professionalism and speed. Support stock management and help resolve operational issues related to product supply.
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in food and ingredient buying.
- Strong interpersonal skills, especially in negotiation.
- Ability to make decisions and adapt to pressure.
- Analytical skills and strong numeracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A team player who can collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations.
